This friendly community sits in a 14-mile, 1,800-feet deep pristine gorge, is a hikers’ and birdwatchers’ paradise, and attracts outdoor adventurers and nature enthusiasts from around the world. The Village is known for some of the most spectacular mountain and river views in the Eastern United States.

    Chimney Rock has a bustling downtown where nature and commerce converge. Stop in for a craft beer, glass of wine, or meal at several of the independently-owned, one-of-a-kind cafes, restaurants, and bistros.     The Rocky Broad RiverWalk is a must experience trail that runs parallell to Main Street behind our local businesses. Several easy-access points of entry drop you right beside one of the most beautiful river systems anywhere in Western North Carolina, the Rocky Broad River.  It's a favorite place for a summer-time dip, early spring fishing, a family picnic, or just a quiet stroll along the river. Village shopping is about as far away from the generic mall scene as you can get. Our shops are stocked with handcrafted and unique gifts ranging from the whimsical to the practical.

    The Village boasts award-winning lodging that includes rustic cabin hideaways, mountain motels, and charming B&Bs. Located across the street from the Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery, the Gathering Place boasts cool breathtaking views of the Chimney and Hickory Nut Falls.
