Welcome to the Gorge! Since the late 1700s, the Gorge has been transforming visitors into residents, either full- or part-time, with the lure of mountain living. The area sits in an isothermal belt providing a temperate climate year-round and is within an hour’s drive to major airports including Asheville International Airport and Greenville/Spartanburg International Airport.  But, yes, we do get one or two light-to-medium snowfalls each winter, which makes it just enough for fun and gorgeous wintertime activities.

The Gorge provides top-notch outdoor recreation, quality education, distinctive housing at various price points, convenient shopping, arts and cultural attractions, and award-winning dining. We are centrally located with easy access to other favorite Western North Carolina towns as well.

So whether you need to find the perfect home, get the utilities set up, or the kids registered for school, here are some helpful resources to make your move as easy and convenient as possible. Welcome to the Gorge, we’re glad you’re here.
