Welcome All Artists, Writers, History Buffs! Preserving a Picturesque America, PAPA, is an organization that seeks and revisits sites depicted in the book, “Picturesque America". These places were painted by adventure artists in the late 1800's and were influential in the early conservation movement in the United States. PAPA invites artists and writers to return to those same vantage points from the early book and create a contemporary rendition of the view. We are once again partnering with Asheville Urban Landscape painters for this event. We will be painting Chimney Rock form the patio at the Hickory Nut Gorge Brewery which is one of the vantage point sites in the original Picturesque America publication. There is parking and restrooms at the Brewery. The brewery opens at noon. Please stay for a snack, lunch or beverage as a thank you to our host.
