    The famous Hickory Nut Falls is one of the highest waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. Seen in movies such as The Last of the Mohicans, its sheer drop is easily recognized and hard to forget. Thousands of people visit the waterfall each year often overlooking the significance of what flora and fauna thrive in this incredible cliffside habitat. The exploration to the base of Hickory Nut Falls will have you turning over rocks and peering into crevices to see what may be lurking. Space is limited to 15, and advance registration is required, so call 800-277-9611 today to reserve your spot! Waterfall Exploration is part of our Naturalist Niche series. Join an expert naturalist on park trails once a month March - December to learn about birding, old growth trees, ancient geology and other fascinating outdoor topics.
